Fort Mill is located a quick 23 minutes (approx. 18 miles) outside of Charlotte, NC. Many, including Linda Hall, find Fort Mill, SC to be the perfect place to call home. Let’s find out why Linda chose Fort Mill.

It’s centrally located and is less than 30 minutes from Charlotte, as mentioned. It’s also a short drive to Blowing Rock where Linda and her husband, Pete, and their golden retriever Molly, like to go on weekends and holidays. In approximately 2 hours they can be at their cabin in the mountains. If the ocean is your preferable vacation spot, then that option is only a few short hours away. Closer than the ocean are the lakes and the main one that comes to mine is Lake Wylie which has 325 miles of shoreline.  Lake Wylie is another blog for another time, but we’ll get to it!

Fort Mill offers plenty to do for every taste. You’ve got the historic downtown Main street area, great shopping and dining places to choose from and lots of entertainment. There’re also many opportunities to enjoy nature. We’ll mention some that are top of mine.

·         Anne Springs Close Greenway – tons to do PLUS they have a GREAT restaurant here!

·         Golfing enthusiasts will love their choices of places to play their favorite game - Springfield Gold Club - Fort Mill Golf Club – Regent Park Golf Club

·         At Walter Y. Elisha Park they are currently building a brand new Amphitheater.

·         There are also these choices of parks: Riverwalk Trail and Park - Steele Street Park - Harris Street Park – Millstone Park

·         And a stone’s throw from the amazing McDowell Nature Center and Preserve in nearby Lake Wylie.

The housing market in Fort Mill is booming. There are new homes, townhouses and apartments to choose from. Depending on your desires, you’ll have plenty of choices. Use our search tool to start your journey.

The Fort Mill weather certainly attracts many Northerners who grow tired of dealing with snow. Although the weather here is really quite beautiful most of the year. It can get kind of hot for 3 months out of the year, but you have the mountains, lakes and ocean to escape to. Spring and Fall are meant for outdoor recreation and outdoor dining.

We cannot end without mentioning the Fort Mill School District. It’s highly ranked AND the Fort Mill High School was just recognized by the National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence organization as a Lighthouse School.  That’s the FIRST High School to receive that honor in 2021. You can read more about what that recognition means by clicking on the following article - FORT MILL HIGH IS NAMED LIGHTHOUSE SCHOOL; FIRST HIGH SCHOOL TO GET THE HONOR IN 2021
